Position TitleRisk Engineer19-Aug-2020Position DescriptionKodak is Hiring!Kodak s WW Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Organization has an opening for a Risk Engineer to join the Rochester-based HSE team.As a member of the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Team, you will provide technical risk management support to Kodak s global manufacturing operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.As Risk Engineer, you will support and develop processes that drive a strategy to manage process safety systems and compliance, particularly as it relates to hazardous area classifications. You will achieve these goals by contributing individually and providing subject matter expertise to technical engineering teams, corporate and functional leaders and operators.Responsibilities to include:
  • Provide technical guidance on explosion protection methods, systems and strategies
  • Evaluate and establish appropriate electrical classifications for electrically hazardous areas and equipment having explosion potential
  • Update and maintain Electrical Classifications database for WW operations
  • Monitor relevant regulatory developments and apply appropriate codes and standards, including NYS building codes and the NEC.
  • Assist various corporate functions to assess business operations and appropriate insurance levels
  • Perform formal machinery risk assessments
  • Lead/participate in Process Safety Reviews
  • Work closely with the person(s) holding City of Rochester/Town of Greece Electrical Licenses for EBP to support safety and compliance
  • Support the OSHA Process Safety Management Program by ensuring safe engineering designs
  • Evaluate and approve engineering drawings for hazardous area chemical process and facility installations
  • Identify and provide guidance for electrical equipment installations in which flammable gases, vapors, liquids, combustible dusts or ignitable fibers represent a risk for fire or explosion
  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis to participate in incident investigations
Required Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related technical degree
  • 5 years of experience performing tasks as outlined above
  • Electrical Classification and appropriate equipment selection experience
  • Proven experience with electrical codes and standards
Desired Characteristics:
  • Working knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., NFPA 70, OSHA 1910.106, ATEX) and risk mitigation techniques (HAZOP, LOPA)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to assess challenging situations and develop clear steps to resolve
  • Ability to work independently and lead change
